Cut & Run by Ben Acker & Ben Blacker

This week for the Fiction Friday feature, I am reviewing the humor & satire Audible Original, Cut & Run by Ben Acker, and Ben Blacker. This work was released in January 2020. It is 2 hours & 44 minutes in length and performed by Meg Ryan, D’Arcy Carden, and Sam Richardson. The following overview is provided from the Audible page: Welcome to a tale of love, adventure, and organ theft. In this charming, scripted audio crime comedy, Samantha Dugan and Abe Lally are best friends and partners in crime. They steal kidneys. Like all jobs, it’s complicated. Despite being Robin Hoods of organ thievery, Abe and Samantha are just the sweetest people. Samantha, a professional con artist, uses her charms to steal kidneys from bad people and get them to good ones. Abe, Sam’s surgeon-in-crime on their illicit kidney theft operation, is using unfettered access to the human body to advance his research to cure diabetes. This gig is hell on their social lives. This hilarious and twisted Audible Original tale features just about everything you could hope for: crime, punishment, law, order, love, romance, air travel, Ed Begley Jr., and a quinceañera.

The voice cast is what makes this Audible Original amazing. Their ability to bring the story to life. They also have this amazing ability to humanize the people behind legendary-style black market crime. The story is funny and witty. There is a comradery between the characters that I don’t think I have seen in other stories of this type. There is a lot of adventure packed into this quick listen. If you have an Audible account this is a must listen. If you are debating if there is anything good in the Audible Plus catalog that is worth a membership this is a great one to listen to. I highly recommend this audio work.

I give this audio work 4 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the Missing Person Saturday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Donna Michelle Calloway. Next week for the Fiction Friday feature, I am reviewing the psychological thriller novel, Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King. Until then keep reading on; Nerd out!
