Missing: Joanna Wright

This week for the Missing Person Saturday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Joanna Wright. Joanna is classified as an endangered missing person. She has been missing since December 18th, 2016, and was last seen in Chicago, Illinois.

Joanna was 33 years old when she went missing. She is described as an African American female, 5’2”, 100 lbs, with brown hair, and brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, Joanna’s hair was styled in mid-back length locs with red tips. Her arms and hands are covered in tattoos. Joanna has a tattoo on the center of her chest that reads “Mary 1936-2009”.

Joanna was last seen on Washtenaw, between Talman Avenue and Rockwell Avenue, in the Marquette Park neighborhood of Chicago at 1:45 p.m. on December 18th. She was abducted by three to four unidentified men. Joanna screamed for help and tried to fight the men off, but they forced her into a newer model blue Mazda with Ohio license plates and drove away. Joanna’s friend, Marlo “Chris” Gulley, who disappeared less than a year after she did, was last seen near the same place as Joanna disappeared. A 20-year-old woman Shante Bohanan, also disappeared from the neighborhood in July 2016 and was found murdered. Her homicide, and Gulley’s disappearance, are unsolved, and it’s unclear whether any of the cases are connected.

If you have any information on Joanna or her disappearance, please contact the Chicago Police Department by phone at (312) 747-8380.

Tomorrow for the Spotcast Sunday feature, I am reviewing the language podcast, Words Matter. Next week for the Missing Person Saturday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Rodney Alvarez Santizo. Until then keep sleuthing the cases; Nerd out!
