This week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic sports series, Spinning Out. This show had its complete run in 2020. This series is rated TV-MA for the following reasons: moderate sex & nudity; mild violence & gore; moderate profanity; moderate alcohol/drugs/smoking; and mild frightening & intense scenes. There is 1 season for a total of 10 episodes. Each episode has a running time of approximately 48 minutes. Starring in this series are Kaya Scodelario, January Jones, and Willow Shields. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: A figure skating Olympic hopeful’s struggle to balance love, family, and fragile mental health as her dream of winning takes a dizzying hold.
This was an enjoyable binge. It would have been nice to see where the story would have gone. But I think the lack of story development is what led to the cancellation of this show. The casting was good. There were parts that felt slow or like it was filler. I think if there had been a few additional characters that could have provided more context and tension would have helped the flat parts feel more dimensional. Maybe binge this while you are folding laundry or doing other household chores.
I give this series 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Tomorrow for the Missing Person Wednesday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Charles Edward Jackson Jr.. Next week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the action-adventure series, Fate: The Winx Saga. Until then keep binge-watching the episodes; Nerd out!
