This week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the comedic drama film, The Half of It. This film was released in 2020 and has a running time of 1 hour & 44 minutes. This movie is rated PG-13 for the following reasons: mild alcohol/drugs/smoking. Starring in this film are Leah Lewis, Daniel Diemer, and Alexxis Lemire. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: When smart but cash-strapped teen Ellie Chu agrees to write a love letter for a jock, she doesn’t expect to become his friend—or fall for his crush.
This was an enjoyable film. I loved how the opening narration cut straight to the point. It was a nice change of pace from some of the other media I have been consuming. The casting was well done, there wasn’t a moment in this film that felt forced. The story was well written. I felt like the pacing of this film was perfect, everything moved in such a way that I didn’t feel like I had just been watching a movie for almost two hours. I feel like the teen genre of film has hit its stride for content. This is another fantastic watch if you enjoy this genre of film.
I give this movie 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Tomorrow for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the documentary series, Street Food: Latin America. Next week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the comedic drama film, Double Dad. Until then keep consuming the cinema; Nerd out!
