This week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the mystery horror film, The Conjuring 2. This film was released in 2016 and has a running time of 2 hours & 14 minutes. This movie is rated R for the following reasons: moderate violence & gore; mild profanity; mild alcohol/drugs/smoking; and severe frightening & intense scenes. Starring in this film are Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, and Madison Wolfe. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: Ed and Lorraine Warren travel to North London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by a supernatural spirit.
I liked this one better than the first one. I liked the way they played with the darkness in this film. They constantly made me feel like I was going to experience a jump scare only to do a slow reveal in the darkness. That creeped me out more than a jump scare would have. This was not a story I had heard about the Warrens until this film. I don’t think I could have a collection of possessed objects. I couldn’t imagine having to deal with the paranormal in any aspect on a consistent basis like the Warrens or this family. This is a fantastic horror film and worth the watch if you get a chance.
I give this film 4.5 out of 5 stars.
