This week for the Fiction Friday feature, I am reviewing the literature Audible Original, The Messengers by Lindsay Joelle. This audio work was released in March 2020. It is 1 hour & 20 minutes in length. The voice cast includes Kaliswa Brewster, Ana Reeder, Zoe Winters, and Alex Weisman. The following overview is provided from the Audible page: In the midst of a decades-long intergalactic war, a soldier and a messenger discover that they share more than a mission…while a runner and a refugee find an unexpected path to freedom that will link their lives forever. Performed with wit, warmth, and humor, The Messengers is an engrossing dark comedy about survival, connection, and the secrets that hold us together.
I thought that this story was funny and amusing. It was well-written and had good pacing. The thing that made this Audible Original extra good was the voice cast. They did such an amazing job bringing this story to life. If you have an Audible subscription I highly recommend adding this to your library.
I give this Audible Original 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Tomorrow for the Missing Person Saturday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Bradley Chace Stracener. Next week for the Fiction Friday feature, I am reviewing the horror fantasy novel, Rose Madder by Stephen King. Until then keep reading on; Nerd out!
