This week for the Missing Person Wednesday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Brittney Nicole Wood. Brittney is classified as an endangered missing person. She was last seen on May 31st, 2012, in Mobile, Alabama.
Brittney was born on September 25th, 1992, and was 19 years old when she went missing. She is described as a white female, 5’3”, 105 lbs, with brown/blonde hair, and blue eyes. Brittney has a pierced lip and a tattoo of the name “Payton” with butterflies surrounding it on her left leg. She was last known to be wearing blue jean shorts, a blue t-shirt, and white flip-flops, and carrying a pink/teal blue tote bag.
Foul play is suspected in this case. Brittney was last seen leaving her home on May 30th. She had told family members that she was going to visit her uncle. Her uncle whom she went to visit shot himself dead two days after Brittney went missing. The gun used was later discovered to have belonged to Brittney. Prior to Brittney’s disappearance, investigators had uncovered a sex ring that involved relatives of Brittney’s which included her dead uncle. Brittney could have been an instrumental witness in the case against the ring.
