Missing: Zachary Bashir Porter

This week for the Missing Person Saturday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Zachary Bashir Porter. Zachary is classified as an endangered missing person. He was last seen on July 23rd, 2013, in McMinnville, Oregon.

Zachary was born on July 17th, 1988, and was 25 years old when he went missing. He is described as a Native American male, 5’11”, 150 – 170 lbs, with brown hair, and brown eyes. Zachary has a scar on his forehead and two on his upper lip. He has the nickname Zack and is of Inupait descent.

On July 23rd, 2013, Zachary left his home in McMinnville, Oregon around 11 a.m. He was headed to North Bend to sell a motorcycle. Zachary has met and arranged the purchase of the bike on the internet. His family received texts from Zachary after he arrived in North Bend, but they weren’t sure if he was the one who sent them. Law enforcement was able to confirm that Zachary met the buyer and sold the motorcycle. His parents reported that Zachary was going to get a ride home from the buyer. However, the buyer stated that Zachary told them that he was going to get a ride from a friend. They were supposed to meet at the Myrtlewood Factory. Zachary has not been seen or heard from since. It is out of character for Zachary to just take off as he was a single parent to a 5-year-old and a caregiver to his disabled mother. The buyer is considered a person of interest but not a suspect.

If you have any information on Zachary or his disappearance, please contact the Coos County Sheriff’s Office by phone at (541) 396-3121.

Tomorrow for the Spotcast Sunday feature, I am reviewing the language podcast, Survival Guide: Learn to Speak Spanish. Next week for the Missing Person Saturday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Lizbeth Pelaez-Mejia. Until then keep sleuthing the cases; Nerd out!
