Missing: Barbara Ann Jenkins

This week for the Missing Person Wednesday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Barbara Ann Jenkins. Barbara is classified as an endangered missing person. She was last seen on August 29th, 2013, in Sumter, South Carolina.

Barbara was born on February 28th, 1969, and was 44 years old when she went missing. She is described as a black female, 5’4”, 170 lbs, with black hair, and brown eyes. Barbara was last known to be wearing black jeans and a black shirt.

At 6 a.m. on August 29th, Barbara walked her son to the bus stop. She placed him on the bus and stood in the street for a few minutes appearing confused before heading in the direction of her residence. However, Barbara never made it back to the house and has never been heard from again. In the year prior to her disappearance, it appears as though Barbara may have been having financial issues that resulted in her and her son having to move in with her mother. The family has reported that before her disappearance Barbara was withdrawn and would spend hours walking around the neighborhood. The night before she disappeared, Barbara had returned to the residence at 8:30 p.m. (later than normal) with her lip appearing to be swollen. Barbara would not tell anyone what had happened. There had been sightings reported after she disappeared but none of them have been able to be confirmed. There has been no activity on her bank account since she went missing. Based on her behavior prior to disappearing, it is believed that Barbara is in danger.

If you have any information on Barbara or her disappearance, please contact Detective Sgt. Heath Gardner of the Sumter Police Department by phone at (803) 465-6007. Please make sure to reference case number 13117843.

Tomorrow for the Writing Thursday feature, I am presenting a new original scene. Next week for the Missing Person Wednesday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Eddie James Johnson. Until then keep sleuthing the cases; Nerd out!
