My Best Friend Anne Frank (OT: Myn beste vriendin Anne Frank)

This week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the drama film, My Best Friend Anne Frank. This movie was released in 2021 and has a running time of 1 hour & 43 minutes. This film is rated TV-14 for the following reasons: mild violence & gore; and severe frightening & intense scenes. Starring in this movie are Aiko Beemsterboer, Josephine Arendsen, and Lottie Hellingman. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: This story is based on the memoirs of Frank’s friend Hannah Goslar.

This movie was haunting and beautiful at the same time. I loved how it showed the complexity of being a young adult in a changing country that threatened your very existence. I also appreciated how it portrayed the complicated emotions involved with friendships at that time. I can remember growing up and reading the Diary of Anne Frank and wondering what it was like for her friends and those around her. This gave me that perspective and humanized Anne in a way that other written pieces have not. I highly recommend this film to everyone.

I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the action-adventure series, Killing Eve. Next week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the family comedy film, The Royal Treament. Until then keep consuming the cinema; Nerd out!
