This week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the action-adventure series, Shadow & Bone. This show debuted in 2021. It is rated TV-14 for the following reasons: mild sex & nudity; moderate violence & gore; mild alcohol/drugs/smoking; and moderately frightening & intense scenes. There is 1 season for a total of 8 episodes. Each episode has a running time of approximately 60 minutes. Starring in this series are Jessi Mei Li, Ben Bames, and Archie Renaux. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: Dark forces conspire against orphan mapmaker Alina Starkov when she unleashes an extraordinary power that could change the fate of her war-torn world.
I was a little confused at first with the different storylines. But once I got a handle on what the mission was for the different character groups I got really into the story. I love the world and I can’t wait to see what happens next for the characters. I know that it is based on a book series, but I have not read it. But I also know that TV shows are never true adaptions of the books they are based on.
I give this show 4 out of 5 stars.
