Premise: a journalist crosses the line

A local reporter had recently been fired after a defamation lawsuit was filed against the reporter personally. I couldn’t believe they didn’t have the forethought to remember the news station had lawyers on staff for this exact reason. They had used the fact that they had saved a truck driver years earlier when they had a stroke, to obtain classified information from the driver’s son. The son had complained to the owners of the station that he felt the reporter weaseled their way close to him to get the information. I mean when your family and coworkers make jokes about you being an encyclopedia of classified information. I had heard a rumor that the reporter had contemplated a job at the local supermarket but they were turned down on the spot.
