Premise: a new love blooms in old age

Vincent looked at the plantation that was his inheritance and felt he had wasted his life with nothing to show for it. No matter how husky he had gotten with age, he always insisted on looking dapper when he had company for dinner. Laura, someone who helped out on the plantation during the business season, walked Shawna to the dining room. Shawna was wearing the most stunning berry-colored silk dress that Vincent had ever seen. Shawna thought that Vincent should dust off a manners manual before they had dinner together again. Between shoveling a ton of food in his mouth at once, Shawna was unsure if he was a squirrel storing food for winter or hadn’t had an actual meal in years. No matter how much his eating disgusted her, Shawna saw something endearing in him that made those butterflies of love, long since thought reappear in her life.
