Don’t Ask Me Where I’m From by Jennifer De Leon

This week for the Fiction Friday feature, I am reviewing the fictional young adult novel, Don’t Ask Me Where I’m From by Jennifer De Leon. This book was published in May 2020 by Atheneum/Caitlyn Dlouhy Books and has a page count of 352 pages. The audiobook is read by Inés del Castillo and is 8 hours & 33 minutes in length. The following overview is provided from the B&N page: First-generation American LatinX Liliana Cruz does what it takes to fit in at her new nearly all-white school. But when family secrets spill out and racism at school ramps up, she must decide what she believes in and take a stand.

I absolutely loved this book. It has such a powerful message and one that more people need to hear. I highly recommend this book to everyone. The characters are relatable, and the storytelling is brilliant. I could rave about this book for hours. But in reality, everyone should just read it.

I give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the Missing Person Saturday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Maya Annette Sanders. Next week for the Fiction Friday feature, I am reviewing the mystery/thriller novel, Anatomy of a Scandal by Sarah Vaughan. Until then keep reading on; Nerd out!
