This week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the historical biography film, Victoria & Abdul. This movie was released in 2017 and has a running time of 1 hour & 51 minutes. This film is rated PG-13 for the following reasons: mild profanity; and mild frightening & intense scenes. Starring in this movie are Judi Dench, Ali Fazal, and Tim Pigott-Smith. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: Queen Victoria strikes up an unlikely friendship with a young Indian clerk named Abdul Karim.
Period pieces are hard for me to watch without being enraged. The movie is fantastic, and the casting is top-notch. I could not get past the fact that people were such trash. I mean yes, I understand the cultural attitudes of the time but still like Her Majesty is telling someone who works for her to be kind, yet they won’t. Kind of like the way the current monarchy has treated a certain royal spouse from the United States.
I give this movie 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Tomorrow for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic action series, Ragnarok. Next week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the sci-fi mystery film, Boss Level. Until then keep consuming the cinema; Nerd out!
