The Suicide Squad

This week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the action-adventure film, The Suicide Squad. This movie was released in 2021 and has a running time of 2 hours & 12 minutes. This film is rated R for the following reasons: moderate sex & nudity, severe violence & gore, severe profanity, moderate alcohol/drugs/smoking, and severe frightening & intense scenes. Starring in this movie is Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, and John Cena. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: Supervillains Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker, and a collection of nutty cons at Belle Reve prison join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X as they are dropped off at the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.

This film was very different from its predecessor. This film is nothing but violence, death, and comedy. Character death is a big part of the opening sequence. I enjoyed meeting new characters, it was nice to have Harley and Flagg back. I liked the casting of the new characters. I honestly don’t think they could have picked a better person than John Cena to play Peacemaker. I felt that the story to this one was better told. I love Gunn’s scene title cards. This is a fantastic film. I highly recommend this film to those that like ultra-violent films where no one is safe.

I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the documentary series, The History of Swear Words. Next week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the comedic romance film, The Kissing Booth 3. Until then keep consuming the cinema; Nerd out!
