Death Note

This week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic anime series, Death Note. This show ran from 2006 to 2007. It is rated TV-14 for the following reasons: mild sex & nudity; moderate violence & gore; mild profanity; mild alcohol/drugs/smoking; and severe frightening & intense scenes. There are 1 season for a total of 37 episodes. Each episode has a running time of approximately 24 minutes. Starring in this series are Mamoru Miyano, Brad Swaile, and Vincent Tong. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: An intelligent high school student goes on a secret crusade to eliminate criminals from the world after discovering a notebook capable of killing anyone whose name is written into it.

While I liked this show I was also disturbed by it. It had nothing to do with the actual story it was more about the conditions under which I watched it which made my initial reaction one of repulsion. However, upon a rewatch under different conditions, I liked the show and was excited to hear that a new live-action version is in the works. This show can be very dark in its theme. Please tread lightly as this show can get heavy and times and I recommend regular breaks while consuming it.

I give this show 4 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the Missing Person Wednesday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Loki Marduk Rhone. Next week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic action series, Ragnarok. Until then keep binge watching the episodes; Nerd out!
