The One

This week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the crime drama series, The One. This show ran from 2021 to 2021. It is rated TV-MA for the following reasons: mild sex & nudity; mild violence & gore; moderate profanity; mild alcohol/drugs/smoking; and mild frightening & intense scenes. There is 1 season for a total of 8 episodes. Each episode has a running time of approximately 42 minutes. Starring in this series are Hannah Ware, Zoë Tapper, and Diarmaid Murtagh. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: Love – and lies – spiral when a DNA researcher helps discover a way to find the perfect partner, and creates a bold new matchmaking service.

This show had potential. It reminded me a lot of Black Mirror mixed with Married at First Sight/Love is Blind. I loved that the characters were complex and messy. It added a level of realness to a futuristic at-the-moment plot. I love that Rebecca is an unapologetic woman in a position of power. I think this show needed more time to really flesh out all the issues set up in the first season. If you have the time to enjoy a quick sci-fi binge, I recommend this show.

I give this show 4 out of 5.

Tomorrow for the Missing Person Wednesday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Myra Gertrude Ramey. Next week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the comedic crime series, Good Girls. Until then keep binge-watching the episodes; Nerd out!
