Diana: The Musical

This week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the musical film, Diana: The Musical. This movie was released in 2021 and has a running time of 1 hour & 57 minutes. This film is rated PG-13 without any additional information provided on the rating. Starring in this movie are Jeanna de Waal, Roe Hartrampf, and Erin Davie. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: The dazzling and devasting life of Princess Diana take center stage in this original musical, filmed in advance of its official Broadway opening.

There was so much room to fine-tune and fix this show but the pandemic ended its chances. I appreciate the fact that I got to consume a musical that I probably would not have had the chance to see otherwise. I just feel that everything that Prince Harry and Prince William have said about the obsession around their mother makes me question why they felt we needed a show like this. I did have songs get stuck in my head because they were cute and catchy. I appreciated how they handled Diana’s unfortunate outcome. Check it out if you’re feeling up to it, but it’s not a must-watch in my book.

I give this movie 3 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the reality TV series, Marriage or Mortgage. Next week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the crime drama film, The Many Saints of Newark. Until then keep consuming the cinema; Nerd out!
