This week for the Spotcast Sunday feature, I am reviewing the language podcast, Word Matters. This podcast debuted in August 2020. There are 59 episodes to listen to at the time of writing. The following overview is provided from the Apple Podcast page: Word Matters is a show for readers, writers, and anyone who’s curious about the English language. Join Merriam-Webster editors as they challenge supposed grammar rules, reveal the surprising origins behind words, tackle common questions, and generally geek out about the beautiful nightmare that is our language.
This podcast provides great information about a lot of things to do with words and the English language. Not only do you learn about words and how language has evolved over time. You get to learn about what it takes for a word to make it into the dictionary, why the dictionary is structured the way that it is, and so many more things. If you’re someone like me who is ever curious about the how and why behind language and its evolution this podcast is for you. Each episode is well-organized around the topic being discussed. I highly recommend this podcast.
I give this podcast 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Tomorrow for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the holiday film, Just Another Christmas. Next week for the Spotcast Sunday feature, I am reviewing the music podcast, Beat Latino. Until then keep listening on; Nerd out!
