Premise: stranded in a foreign city

I had been in Rome for a neurology conference, where they were showcasing the latest discoveries of PTSD’s effects on the brain. My assistant and I had divided up the lectures so we could cover more ground. Plus, it would also allow us both more downtime in this amazing city. It was interesting to observe the differences in workday practices. On a free afternoon, I decided to go exploring. Lydia had mumbled something about an assets and liabilities report she needed to finish. The last, I saw her was purchasing a neck cushion at the hotel shop. I nibbled on a cupcake as I toured the city. I enjoyed how the steeples reached the firmament. I had ventured into a church to stumble across a Baptist in the middle of a ceremony. I quietly took a seat in what I assumed was a pine pew. After it was over, I emerged from the church to forget how to get back. I went to use my phone only for it to be dead. Then searching further in my bag, I realized that my wallet was missing. I was stranded and unsure what to do next.
