Ginny & Georgia

This week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the comedic drama series, Ginny & Georgia. This show debuted in 2021. It is rated TV-14 for the following reasons: moderate sex & nudity; mild violence & gore; moderate profanity; moderate alcohol/drugs/smoking; and mild frightening & intense scenes. There is 1 season for a total of 10 episodes. Each episode has a running time of approximately 54 minutes. Starring in this series are Brianne Howey, Antonia Gentry, and Diesel La Torraca. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: Ginny Miller, an angsty fifteen-year-old, often feels more mature than he thirty-year-old mother, the irresistible and dynamic Georgia Miller.

This show has some amazing storytelling and structure. I like that we start out meeting the characters as they are making a change in their life. We get very little information to begin with as it pertains to the characters before this moment. The most information we learn is about Ginny the daughter. I like how they have given us breadcrumbs to learn about Georgia and understand her. We get to question her decisions and motivations for doing things and only after watching for a little bit to the writers give us a nibble. That little piece of information given is enough to get a nugget of compassion and empathy out of us which keeps the watcher from being completely frustrated with her. I can’t wait to see what they have come up with for season two story-wise. I love the casting. Oh, and shout out to the writers for the sleepover hair scene, I felt so seen watching that. I highly recommend this show to those who like the single mother/daughter dynamic shows.

I give this series 4 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the Missing Person Wednesday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of David Paul Ruggiero. Next week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the comedy series, The Crew. Until then keep binge-watching the episodes; Nerd out!
