A California Christmas

This week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the comedic drama film, A California Christmas. This movie was released in 2020 and has a running time of 1 hour & 46 minutes. This film is rated PG-13 for the following reasons: mild sex & nudity; mild violence & gore; and mild profanity. Starring in this movie are Lauren Swickard, Josh Swickard, and Ali Afshar. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: With his carefree lifestyle on the line, a wealthy charmer poses as a ranch hand to get a hardworking farmer to sell her family’s land before Christmas.

I liked this film. I loved that it was a holiday film that didn’t feature snow. I get that it is what a lot of people think of when it’s the holiday season. However, I enjoy watching a holiday movie that doesn’t lean so heavily into being a holiday movie. There is definitely that cheesy feel at times that most romantic holiday films have. I really enjoyed this film and would watch it again. The pacing was good for the amount of story they were telling. I didn’t feel like there were wasted moments in the film. If you are looking for a good holiday film that doesn’t feel like a holiday film, this movie is for you.

I give this film 4 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the comedy series, The Crew. Next week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the holiday film, Just Another Christmas. Until then keep consuming the cinema; Nerd out!
