Homies & Homicide

An update to review can be found below the star rating.

This week for the Spotcast Sunday feature, I am reviewing the true crime podcast, Homies & Homicides. This podcast debuted in September 2020 and comes with an explicit language warning. There are 48 episodes to listen to at the time of writing. The following overview is provided from the Apple Podcast page: A sometimes suitable for work true crime podcast. You’re in for a BIG OOF.

This podcast has gone through a lot of growth and change in its short life. I will admit I am biased in my review of this podcast as I have developed a kinship with the host over time. The early episodes have two hosts, however, one of the hosts left the show. The remaining host has been finding her footing and she is doing a good job. She had put the podcast on break because of her mental health. I think she has some great ideas for the podcast, and I look forward to seeing them implemented whenever she chooses to come back. I believe that the loss of a host did not hinder this podcast, I think it gave the podcast more growth opportunities and a better energy vibe. I appreciate the honesty in the episodes of how they are figuring it out. It’s nice when a podcast acknowledges just how much work goes into it. I think people underestimate it far too much. I highly recommend this podcast to true crime consumers.

I give this podcast 4.5 out of 5 stars.

[I am adding this update on 10/20/2023 to the review because I was a little dishonest in the kinship described in the paragraph above. Amanda has become one of my best friends and I want to support any and all projects she does. So go check her out on Twitch as AmandaPleazeGaming. She is honestly one of the best people I have ever met and I have a mutual to thank for that.]

Tomorrow for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the documentary film, After Maria. Next week for the Spotcast Sunday feature, I am reviewing the history podcast, That Wasn’t In My Textbook. Until then keep listening on; Nerd out!
