A Woman of the World by Rebecca Gilman

The week for the Fiction Friday feature, I am reviewing the Audible Original, A Woman of the World by Rebecca Gilman. This audio work was released in April 2020. It is 1 hour & 8 minutes in length and narrated by Kathleen Chalfant. The following overview is provided from the Audible page: Meet Mabel Loomis Todd, an inspired conversationalist who routinely invites scandal and ignores the rules of 19th century society. Now in her 70s and living on Hog Island in Maine, the outspoken writer and editor is holding court, entertaining us with musings on her colorful life, spilling secrets, and revealing the truth about how she turned Emily Dickinson into a household name.

I felt like this Audible Original was aimed at people who like the classical style of storytelling. To me, the performance outshined the story. If you a fan of classics, I think you should check this one out.

I give this Audible Original 3 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the Missing Person Saturday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Scott David Kurland. Next week for the Fiction Friday feature, I am reviewing the magical realism novel, The Green Mile by Stephen King. Until then keep reading on; Nerd out!
