Premise: A hermit is forced to go to a crowded place

I hated being away from my typewriter this time of year. My chauffeur had brought my family into the city for a holiday shopping spree. I looked at the boats in the waterway, hoping that this trip would be quick and painless. I took a sip from my water bottle and did a last-minute pep talk before I opened the door and headed into the store. My kids enjoyed this day of the year because I was the most lenient. They knew the rules and expectations of behavior when we were out. Our first stop of the day was the toy store. I was surprised at how quickly my children made their choices. This year they had certainly come prepared with specifics that they wanted. This was the store that made my runner of a child very happy. They had found the VR game they had been looking for. It was at our next stop that my other child got to pick out their dream present. They had sewn a bit on my spouse’s machine, but I wanted them to have one of their own. I was most nervous about our final stop. We were picking up some ingredients to make a fake soil desert. Plus, I had to pick up a cake I had ordered, which is what I was nervous about. I had problems getting the picture to render properly on my computer that I wanted them to put on the cake. They said they had someone there that could fix the problem. Thankful, the clerk at the bakery let me sneak a peek before I paid for it. It came out perfectly. This whole trip maybe took 90 minutes and yet when I returned home, I had to take a nap immediately. Being around all the people drained the energy out of me. I had been so focused on the exact reasons we were out that everything felt like a blur when I awoke.
