Premise: a divorced couple is stuck together

We had been married for 8 years when things finally came to a head. I had been assertive that we exhaust all efforts before calling it quits, and Fredrick agreed. Although we had gone through the divorce process, we haven’t been able to leave the marital home just yet. Neither of us was solvent to buy the other out of the house and we couldn’t get enough from selling in the current market to handle our debts to both be able to purchase new homes. A lot of my friends had asked me if it was torment to live with Fredrick still. Any time I responded that it wasn’t, they asked me if I was seeing a specialist because I must not be feeling well. I always laughed it off, I couldn’t explain it to them. I had a new zest for life now that my marriage was over. I never stopped loving Fredrick, our relationship just changed over time. We became more friends with occasional benefits than what you would think a marriage would be. I didn’t see the point in letting anyone get a rise out of me. I knew my truth and I was content with my life at the moment. Fredrick was slowly getting out into the dating world, while I was just enjoying being with myself. It was fun to see Fredrick nervous when he would have a date. I had to remind him that some women would not understand his humor around elks. He could grate the most patient of a person’s nerves without trying with some of his jokes. Tonight, he had a second date with a woman named Joy. They were going to see the special showing of Twister at the drive-in. Fredrick had been so excited that he caused the swivel chair to do a complete spin as he left. It was nice to see him happy again, he deserved it so much after everything he has been through.
