October Faction

This week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic adventure series, October Faction. This show ran in 2020. It is rated TV-MA for the following reasons: moderate violence & gore; moderate profanity; moderate alcohol/drugs/smoking; and mild frightening & intense scenes. There is one season for a total of 10 episodes. Each episode has a running time of approximately 40 minutes. Starring in this series are Tamara Taylor, J.C. Mackenzie, and Aurora Dawson-Hunte. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: A semi-retired couple who work for a clandestine monster hunting agency discover dark family secrets and the truth about their employer after their magically inclined high adult kids reawakened a witch bent on revenge.

This was an interesting watch. I can see why it didn’t get renewed but at the same time, I wish it had. I think the lack of character development was the downfall of this show. While the world and events were interesting, we didn’t learn enough about the characters for me to care about them. There wasn’t enough about the stakes for them in the current world situation. There were so many things that were barely explained but we were supposed to care about or go with. And it didn’t work for me. I like the casting and wish that there had been enough story for the actors to shine. This might be something worth putting on when you want something on in the background.

I give this show 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the Missing Person Wednesday feature, I am highlighting the missing person’s case of Renee Charmange Martinez. Next week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the cooking show, Nadiya’s Time to Eat. Until then keep binge-watching the episodes; Nerd out!
