Business Wars

This week for the Spotcast Sunday feature, I am reviewing the business podcast, Business Wars. This podcast debuted in 2018. There were 253 episodes available on Apple Podcasts at the time of writing. The following description is provided from the Apple Podcasts page: Netflix vs HBO. Nike vs Adidas. Business is war. Sometimes the prize is your wallet or your attention. Sometimes, it’s just the fun of beating the other guy. The outcome of these battles shapes what we buy and how we live. Business Wars gives you the unauthorized, real story of what drives these companies and their leaders, inventors, investors and executives to new height – or to ruin. Hosted by David Brown, former anchor of Marketplace. From Wondery, the network behind Dirty John and American History Tellers.

This is one of my favorite podcasts to listen to. I absolutely love learning the original story of each of these businesses and how the competition pushed them. It is fascinating to learn what made some of these businesses go under. Learning about business deals that ended up costing a company everything (I’m looking at you Blockbuster) is something I have always wanted to know. I have watched some of these business wars play out with a vested interest while others I knew little to nothing about. The structure of each series is well done and paced perfectly. I enjoy that they will go back and revisit certain business wars when new things happen within them. I highly recommend this podcast, it could serve as a warning or encouragement for your own business.

I give this podcast 5 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic biography film, Steve Jobs. Next week for the Spotcast Sunday feature, I am reviewing the medical podcast, Medical Mysteries. Until then keep listening on; Nerd out!
