Premise: The closing arguments of a big case
JUDGE: Will the prosecution please present their closing arguments.
PROSECUTOR: Over the last week you have heard testimony that proves that the defendant used the victim to catapult themselves into the spotlight. You’ve heard testimony that shows the wheelhouse of tricks the defendant used to keep the victim in line. I showed you in this courtroom the clamp he used to punish the victim when he felt she stepped out of like. You heard how as punishment for getting a ticket, he made the victim eat peanuts that they are allergic to. I submitted into evidence a decree written by the defendant that described inhumane torture that could be inflicted for the slightest of offenses. The defendant should be found guilty on all charges. We ask that you the jury do your duty and come to the same conclusion as us, no other party could have committed these crimes.
JUDGE: Defense.
DEFENSE ATTORNEY: It has been said that we have presented a thimble’s worth of defense in this case. It should be obvious to the members of the jury that vengeance is the only vapors emitting from this case. This was a consensual relationship between two adults. Things that were done as jokes are now being presented as serious evidence of a crime. Intent matters in these charges. It is why I implore you juror to find my client innocent on all charges.
