The Midnight Sky

This week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic fantasy film, The Midnight Sky. This movie was released in 2020 and has a running time of 1 hour & 58 minutes. This film is rated PG-13 for the following reasons: mild violence & gore, mild profanity, mild alcohol/drugs/smoking, and mild frightening & intense scenes. Starring in this movie are George Clooney, Felicity Jones, and David Oyelowd. The following overview is provided from the IMDB page: This post-apocalyptic tale follows Augustine, a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to stop Sully and her fellow astronauts from returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe.

This was an interesting movie. I didn’t like all the flipping back and forth between timelines. It made the story at the time feel disjointed. I liked the cast and the story. This movie felt long and drawn out. I think they could have cut it down to 90 minutes and the story would have been more compelling. There were a few messages a person could take away from this film which to me makes up for some of the length. I would probably put this on for background noise or to fall asleep if I were to watch it again. But for me, this film is more of a one-and-done, never to be watched again.

I give this movie 3 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the medical drama series, Grey’s Anatomy. Next week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the comedic film, Death to 2020. Until then keep consuming the cinema; Nerd out!
