Premise: The main character thinks he or she is about to get fired

I had received an email from my manager, Leon, letting me know that the boss wanted to see me at 3 that afternoon. I swear as I read that email, I felt every drop of blood congeal instantly in my body. All I could think was this was the moment that I was going to get fired. I had worked my butt off for this company and I was going to get fired over a super embarrassing weekend mishap. A few of us had had to be on a business trip and everything you think could go wrong probably did. I set off the smoke detector in my room with the hairdryer to start the trip. I spilled some of my melted Bluebell ice cream on a coworker’s magazine while we were waiting for our transportation. The second to worst thing to happen was my wheelie bag tripped Stella and caused her to break her leg. Then on the last night of the conference when awards were given out, I had been talking with my cheeseburger in hand. My grip loosened just enough for the patty to fly out and hit my manager in the cummerbund getting ketchup and mustard all over it as his name was announced for an award. I could feel my stomach binding up more as each minute passed. I wondered if science could tell me if I could die right here and now from the stress and anxiety I was feeling. Three could not come fast enough.
