Finding ‘Ohana

This week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the action-adventure film, Finding ‘Ohana. This movie was released in 2021 and had a running time of 2 hours & 3 minutes. This film is rated PG for the following reasons: mild violence & gore, mild profanity, and mild frightening & intense scenes. Starring in this movie are Kea Peahu, Alex Aiono, and Lindsay Watson. The following plot overview is provided from the IMDB page: A summer in rural O’ahu takes an exciting turn for two Brooklyn-raised siblings when a journal pointing to long-lost treasure sets them on an epic adventure with new friends, and leads them to reconnect with their Hawaiian heritage.

I loved this movie. I have watched multiple times, sometimes with my kids and sometimes just on my own. I love learning about the Hawai’i culture and beliefs. I loved that the family dynamic was messy, and things had been lost in translation with the different generations. There is so much to rave about with this movie that I really must implore everyone to watch it. It hit me in the feels and was so heartwarming. It is perfect to watch on your own or with your family. I loved the cinematography, there are some breath-taking shots in this film. The casting was so well done, that I recognized some of the faces from other projects.

I give this film 5 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the comedy adventure series, AJ & the Queen. Next week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the musical film, Hamilton. Until then keep consuming the cinema; Nerd out!
