Legal Wars

This week for the Spotcast Sunday feature, I am reviewing the law podcast, Legal Wars. This podcast debuted in September 2018 and has not been updated since July 2021. There are 30 episodes available at the time of writing. The following description is provided from the Apple Podcast page: The courtroom can be a battlefield over money, people’s rights, and even their lives. For some cases, the consequences can affect us long after the verdict is read. Based on extensive interviews and court transcripts, Wondery’s new podcast Legal Wars puts you inside the jury box of some of the most famous court cases in American history, including Hulk Hogan’s courtroom wrestling match with Gawker, the battle for free speech on the internet, and the Rodney King trial that set off the LA Riots. Host Hill Harper, actor and Harvard Law School graduate, brings you the drama, the larger-than-life characters, and the real-world impact these cases had on our society.

This was a fascinating look at some of the biggest legal headlines of their time. I remember when Hulk Hogan sued Gawker but I never knew how he won the lawsuit. So having this podcast breakdown exactly how that happened was a look behind the headline. I highly recommend this podcast to those who are into pop culture and the legal process. I learned so much that the headline news was never discussed in relation to these cases. The fact that these cases had an impact on society makes this a must listen in my opinion. We can look at these cases and see where things went wrong and work on preventing miscarriage of justice from happening again. Or we can watch as history repeats itself and blissfully remain ignorant as to why it’s happening again. This is another podcast where I wish there were more episodes because I think it was doing a wonderful job of providing insight into things that many people did not follow at the time they occurred.

I give this podcast 4 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the holiday film 48 Christmas Wishes. Next week for the Spotcast Sunday feature, I am reviewing the business podcast, Business Wars Daily. Until then keep listening on; Nerd out!
