This week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the Sci-fi action-adventure series, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. This series ran from 1993 to 1999. It is rated TV-PG for the following reasons: mild sex & nudity, moderate violence & gore, mild profanity, mild alcohol/drugs/smoking, and moderately frightening & intense scenes. There are 7 seasons for a total of 173 episodes. Each episode has a running time of approximately 46 minutes. Starring in this series are Avery Brooks, Rene Auberjonois, and Cirroc Lofton. The following plot overview is provided from IMDB: In the vicinity of the liberated planet of Bajor, the Federation space station Deep Space Nine guards the opening of a stable wormhole to the far side of the galaxy.
I love this show, but I am sure if you’re a regular reader you know this by now. The reason I enjoy this Star Trek is because for once the main characters are in a stationary place. So, all the people they encounter are passing through the area on their travels. Instead of the story being from the perspective of an exploring group, it is told from a community trying to come together after upheaval with explorers passing through. I also find it funny that you can tell when Next Generation’s show run finished because Worf joins the cast of Deep Space Nine. Out of Next Generation, Voyager, and Deep Space Nine, Deep Space Nine comes in second after Voyager. If you like sci-fi adventure please check out the Star Trek series, they are amazing.
I give this series 4 out of 5 stars.
