An Education

This week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic film, An Education. This movie was released in 2009 and has a running time of 1 hour & 40 minutes. This movie is rated PG-13 for the following reasons: mild sex & nudity, mild profanity, and mild alcohol/drugs/smoking. Starring in this film are Carey Mulligan, Peter Sarsgaard, and Alfred Molina. The following plot overview is provided from IMDB: A coming-of-age story about a teenage girl in 1960s suburban London, and how her life changes with the arrival of a playboy nearly twice her age.

I was bored throughout this entire movie. The story was the same old story of a young woman being naïve to the ways of an older man. The length of this movie was too long for the amount of story they had. The only thing I liked about this film was the costumes and outdoor scenes. There are other films that tell this story in a more attention-grabbing way. This movie would have been better as a one-hour TV movie than it did in this format. Check it out if you feel like you need something to fall asleep to.

I give this film 2 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the TV Tuesday feature, I am Sci-fi action-adventure series, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Next week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic crime mystery, Secret in Their Eyes. Until then keep consuming the cinema; Nerd out!
