This week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the action-adventure film, Shazam. The movie was released in 2019 and has a running time of 2 hours & 12 minutes. The film is rated PG-13 for the following reasons: moderate violence & gore, mild profanity, mild alcohol/drugs/smoking, and moderately frightening & intense scenes. Starring in this movie are Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, and Asher Angel. The following plot overview is provided from IMDB: A newly fostered young boy in search of his mother instead finds unexpected superpowers and soon gains a powerful enemy.
I enjoyed this film with two of my kids and husband. I loved the message about family is what you make it. I enjoyed the related real-life conflict. There was a nice balance of snark, action, and feel-good moments. This film has the right amount of cheese for me to enjoy repeatedly. I love to put this movie on when I need some feel-good laughs. Let me know what your favorite superhero trope or joke from it is. I recommend this film to everyone.
I give this movie 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Tomorrow for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the documentary series, The Last Dance. Next week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the documentary film, Disclosure. Until then keep seizing the cinema; Nerd out!
