To The Bone

This week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic film, To the Bone. This film was released in 2017 and has a running time of 1 hour & 47 minutes. The movie is rated TV-MA for the following reasons: mild sex & nudity, moderate profanity, mild alcohol/drugs/smoking, and moderate frightening & intense scenes. Starring in this film are Rebekah Kennedy, Lily Collins, and Dana L. Wilson. The following plot overview is provided from IMDB: A young woman, dealing with anorexia, meets an unconventional doctor who challenges her to face her condition and embrace life.

This movie was powerful and moving. I loved that this was not a glossed-over version of what it is like to live with an eating disorder. The acting was top notch in my opinion. This opened my eyes to the struggles that people who suffer from eating disorders go through. There is a realness to this story that hits home for me. I could relate to Eli needing to hit rock bottom before being able to pick herself up again. I feel like this is a great movie for everyone to watch; especially, to have a better understanding of those suffering from eating disorders. So much good can come from watching this, even if it’s just a conversation starter.

I give this film 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the sci-fi adventure series, Lost in Space. Next week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the comedy film, Hurricane Bianca: From Russia with Hate. Until then keep seizing the cinema; Nerd out!
