Crime Stories with Nancy Grace

This week for the Spotcast Sunday feature, I am reviewing the true-crime podcast, Crime Stories with Nancy Grace. This podcast debuted in 2017. There are 300 episodes available of this podcast according to the Apple Podcast page. The following description is provided from the same Apple Podcast page: Nancy Grace dives deep into the day’s most shocking crimes and asks the tough questions in her new daily podcast – Crime Stories with Nancy Grace. Nancy Grace had a perfect conviction record during her decade as a prosecutor and used her TV show to find missing people, fugitive on the run, and unseen clues. Now, she will use the power of her huge social media following and the immediacy of the internet to deliver daily bombshells!

Nancy Grace and her show are extremely problematic. While I appreciate the fact that she does cover cases that I have not seen get national coverage, this podcast is not worth anyone’s time. Nancy is rude not only to guests she has on but also to experts. If you do not agree with her, she cuts you off, being ignorant and rude. The only thing worth listening to is the crime alerts because Nancy cannot voice her ignorant views in a 30-second sound bite on various top crime stories. I personally have been offended by the way she talks and mocks mental health. She has had the nerve to act like she knows what can cause someone to have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and that if she didn’t think a situation could cause then the person is lying. She also uses the killing of her fiancé while in college as a way to insert herself into every conversation. And given the current protests, let me just say that Nancy Grace is not on the side of justice reform. She is all about locking people up and throwing away the key. I dare you to pay attention to the difference in how she talks about different victims and perpetrators of different races. If anyone has a question on where I stand on these issues, please read the following statement:

I have not always been an ally. I have been on this journey for a few years, and I use every day to learn something new. I did not always recognize my privilege, but now I do. I have made mistakes in the past, but I have grown since then. I understand that I will never understand, but I see you, I stand with you, and you matter. BLACK LIVES MATTER!!!! Matter is the minimum, black lives are WORTHY, black lives are BELOVED, black lives are NEEDED! We must as a society do whatever it takes to real change and continue to fight until we end a system that is built on racism.

I give this podcast 2 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the comedic film, Hurricane Bianca: From Russia with Hate. Next week for the Spotcast Sunday feature, I am reviewing the true crime podcast, Felonious Florida. Until then keep listening on; Nerd out!
