Birdbox

This week for Movie Monday, I’m reviewing the Netflix original Birdbox. Plot Summary per IMDB.com: Five years after an ominous unseen presence drives most of society to suicide, a mother and her two children make a desperate bid to reach safety.

I have seen reviews of people who liked this movie and the opposite viewpoint. I loved this movie for the lack of explanation. I feel lately that movies overexplain things. This might also be the reason I prefer books. With literature, we are left to wonder and imagine things with our minds. We must fill in the blanks instead of having them filled in with movie imagery.

I enjoyed the limited information we are provided about the last 5 years. I liked not knowing everyone’s back story and judging them solely on their humanity in these moments. I enjoyed the jumping from the current time back. It helped pass the traveling time for the current events. Something Lord of the Rings could have taken notes from.

I give this movie a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
