Dumplin’ is the story of Willowdean’s rebellious entry into her former Beauty Queen of a Mother’s pageant. If you can’t stand Dolly Parton avoid this movie. I have no feelings one way or another about Dolly; I was able to enjoy the movie. It plays to the typical pageant stereotypes, those at times themselves are cringe. I liked Jennifer Anniston as Willowdean’s mother. The moral of the story was touching. My favorite part has to be when Willowdean got some loving at the club her aunt used to go to.
I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars.
