The Titan

This week for the Movie Monday feature, I’m reviewing the dramatic mystery film, The Titan. The movie was released in 2018 and has a running time of 1 hour & 37 minutes. This film is rated TV-MA for the following reasons: mild sex & nudity, severe violence & gore, severe profanity, mild alcohol/drugs/smoking, and moderate frightening/intense scenes. Starring in this movie is Sam Worthington, Taylor Schilling, and Tom Wilkinson. The following overview is provided from IMDB: A military family takes part in a ground-breaking experiment of genetic evolution and space exploration.

This movie was wild and dark and I am here for it. The gradual dive into the darkest aspect of this story was done superbly. There were times when I would catch myself being frozen with my hand in the air mid-reach because I would get so locked into the scene. I felt for Abi so much as she struggled with watching her husband change. This is another film that shows the pitfalls of trying to force evolution to happen outside of its own timeline. While some may say that this movie is a little out there, to me it is something I could see happening. I mean given the history of political figures that use their powers for human experiments to build an army or super soldier speaks for itself. I loved the casting for the movie, while I recognized the main actors from many projects, I quickly forgot about the jokes as the story overtook me. If you like science fiction, I recommend checking out this movie.

I give this film 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic fantasy series, Always a Witch. Next week for the Movie Monday feature, I am reviewing the horror movie, Malevolent. Until then keep seizing the cinema; Nerd out!
