The 100

This week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic sci-fi mystery series, The 100. This show ran from 2014 to 2020. It is rated TV-14 for the following reasons: mild sex & nudity, moderate violence & gore, mild profanity, mild alcohol/drugs/smoking, and moderately frightening & intense scenes. There are a total of 100 episodes across seven seasons. Each episode has a running time of 43 minutes. Starring in this series are Eliza Taylor, Bob Morley, and Marie Avgeropoulos. The following plot overview is provided from IMDB: Set ninety-seven years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, when a spaceship housing humanity’s lone survivors send one hundred juvenile delinquents back to Earth in hopes of possibly repopulating the planet.

I have mixed emotions about this show. I love the redemption arcs that many characters go through and I loved the way that it ended. I definitely have some strong feelings about certain characters (Lincoln and Jasper to name two), some of those feelings good, some bad. A big pet peeve of mine that happened more than once in this show was when they made characters annoyingly one-dimensional at times. It was something that turned me off of characters that I had loved for a long time. I did not read the book that the show is based on so my opinion is strictly based on the show. While there were plenty of characters that I did not mind killing off, there were others that hurt and I refuse to rewatch those parts. Octavia was the character I related to the most and I loved her story arc. It went in more directions than I could have imagined, especially given how we met her.

I give this series 4 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the Missing Person Wednesday feature, I am highlighting the Doe Network profile of Donna Kay Cloud. Tomorrow for the True Crime Wednesday feature, I am recapping S2E3 of the true crime documentary series, I am a Killer. Next week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the sci-fi action-drama series, Altered Carbon. Until then keep binge-watching the episodes; Nerd out!
