Riverdale

This week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the crime drama series, Riverdale. This show debuted in 2017. This series is rated TV -14 for the following reasons: moderate sex & nudity, moderate violence & gore, mild profanity, moderate alcohol/drugs/smoking, and moderately frightening & intense scenes. This show has 4 seasons for a total of 76 episodes. The episodes have a running time of 45 minutes. Starring in this series are K.J. Apa, Lili Reinhart, and Camila Mendes. The following plot overview is provided from IMDB: While navigating the troubled waters of romance, school, and family, Archie and his gang become entangled in dark Riverdale mysteries.

Outside of the musical episodes, this show is a guilty pleasure of mine. I am glad that they are doing a time jump in the show since let’s get real, none of the actors that are meant to be teenagers really look like teenagers. There are a few storylines that I felt dragged out longer than needed. Veronica and Toni are my favorite characters followed by Jughead and Cheryl. When I think of other shows/books/movies that make me think of this show they are Revenge, Harriet the Spy, Nancy Drew, and The Hardy Boys. I know that it is based on the comic strip, which I have never read. I liked it, it was binge-able for those who watch it on streaming services. I do not know if I have the patience to watch weekly released shows. If you enjoy teen dramas, crime plots, and mysteries of small towns this show is for you.

I give this series 4 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the Missing Person Wednesday feature, I am highlighting the Doe Network profile of Ramiro Garcia. Next week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic mystery series, 13 Reasons Why. Until then keep bingeing watching the episodes; Nerd out!
