Rectify

This week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the drama series, Rectify. This show ran from 2013-2016. This series is rated TV-14 for the following reasons: moderate sex & nudity; moderate violence & gore; moderate profanity; and moderate alcohol/drugs/smoking. Starring in this show are Aden Young, Abigail Spencer, and J. Smith-Cameron. The following plot overview is provided from IMDB: Daniel Holden must put his life back together after serving 19 years on Georgia’s death row before DNA evidence calls his conviction into question.

I really enjoyed this show. I feel like this show did an amazing job of showing the struggles of returning to society after being locked up at a young age for a long period of time. I think it also portrayed the struggle between fighting to prove your innocence and how a false confession creates a massive amount of issues. There were times when I felt some scenes went a little long and would have been better trimmed up a bit. It was a little slow in the beginning but once you learned who the main players are, it’s easy to become invested in the story. I kept guessing who the killer could have been as each new piece of evidence was uncovered. I love shows like this that keep me guessing. I highly recommend that everyone check this series out.

I give this show 4 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the True Crime Wednesday feature, I am recapping the first episode of Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich. Next week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the comedy series, Norsemen. Until then keep binge-watching the episodes; Nerd out!
