A Young Child Makes a Discovery
I finished putting on my makeup and went to find Philip and Nigel. I chuckled as I listened to my husband encourage our son to call things by their scientific names. The sun was bright, on this cool spring afternoon. Nigel was using a yardstick to measure various things, and Philip was encouraging him to identify each thing before he measured it.
“Ginkgo biloba is the name for the tree.” Philip directed.
“I like calling it Maidenhair like mommy.” Nigel chuckled.
Nigel’s Superman cape was stretched out behind him, as it was caught on an aloe plant. Nigel pulled his clicker toy out from his fanny pack. He used it to make noise and cause the animals to show themselves. Nigel was always fascinated by nature but his favorite thing was furry animals.
“Well, since it’s Moviegoer Monday down at the museum, do you all want to go for the cavern experience?” I asked.
“Yes! Can we, Daddy?” Nigel ran and clung onto Philip’s leg.
“Yes, I believe that is a fantastic idea.” Philip picked Nigel up and we headed it.
Nigel quickly got himself ready to go to the museum and off we went. There was nothing better than spending one of my rare days off having a family day out.
