Lost in Space

This week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the sci-fi adventure series, Lost in Space. This show debuted in 2018. It is rated TV-PG for the following reasons: mild violence & gore, mild profanity, and mild frightening & intense scenes. There are two seasons available for a total of 20 episodes. Each episode has a running time of 1 hour. Starring in this series are Molly Parker, Toby Stephens, and Maxwell Jenkins. The following plot overview is provided from IMDB: After crash-landing on an alien planet, the Robinson family fights against all odds to survive and escape, but they’re surrounded by hidden dangers.

Season one was a little slow for me, but I loved season two. Season one was a lot of laying the groundwork for what was to come. I like how they cut back and forth between events that happened prior to where the series starts. I feel like it keeps the story moving forward even when looking back. It helps explain decisions and motivations that happen in an organic feeling way. I love the tension of the family dynamic it is played so well on the show. I could not imagine dealing with some of the family drama while lost in outer space. I appreciated how they addressed Judy joining the family. It was a wonderful adoption story that wasn’t the typical I have seen lately. I am interested to see what season three will bring, especially since it will also be the last season for the show. Given the multi-year deal the showrunner has signed, Lost in Space might be ending next year, but I think there will be plenty more to watch from Zack Estrin.

I give this series 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the Missing Person Wednesday feature, I am highlighting the Doe Network profile of Javier Rafael Castro. Next week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the crime drama series, Better Call Saul. Until then keep binge-watching the episodes; Nerd out!
