Dark Places

This week for the Movie Monday feature, I’m reviewing the action-drama, Dark Places. This film was released in 2015 and had a running time of 1 hour and 53 minutes. This movie is rated R for the following reasons: mild sex & nudity, moderate violence & gore, moderate profanity, and moderate alcohol/drugs/smoking. Starring in this film are Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, and Christina Hendricks. The following overview is provided from IMDB: Libby Day was only eight years old when her family was brutally murdered in their rural Kansas farmhouse. Almost thirty years later, she reluctantly agrees to revisit the crime and uncovers the wrenching truths that led up to that tragic night.

I loved this movie. There were twists and turns in the story that kept me on my toes. Even as the truth is slowly revealed there are a few more twists to come. The casting for this movie was a wonder. This is probably one of the few films that I only see Nicholas Hoult as Beast from the X-Men reboot movies. I was so wrapped up in the story that I didn’t crack reference jokes to other works that the actors and actresses have been in. If you enjoy crime dramas this movie is a must-watch.

I give this film 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the TV Tuesday feature, I’m reviewing the comedic crime drama, Limitless. Next week for the Movie Monday feature, I’m reviewing the dramatic mystery film, Freaks. Until then keep seizing the cinema; Nerd out!
