Bates Motel

This week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the dramatic horror series, Bates Motel. This show ran from 2013-2017. This series is rated TV-MA for the following reasons: moderate sex & nudity, severe violence & gore, moderate profanity, moderate alcohol/smoking/drugs, and severe frightening/intense scenes. There are 5 seasons for a total of 50 episodes. Episodes have a running time of 45 minutes. Starring in this show are Vera Farmiga, Freddie Highmore and Max Thieriot. The following plot overview is provided from IMDB: A contemporary prequel to Psycho, giving a portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years, and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is.

I do not think they could have cast this show any better. Norma and Norman were on a trip. As a fan of the Alfred Hitchcock film, this was everything I wanted out of a show. My favorite part of this show is at point they make you start questioning everything you believed up until that point. Any time you can get me to question everything over the course of a couple of episodes, I have to give it to you. The writers of this show deserve so much praise for the story they were able to tell. The actors deserve praise for bringing such great writing to life. Without their performances this show would not have been as good. If you love the Hitchcock film or just enjoy the horror genre, this show is a must-see.

I give this show 5 out of 5 stars.

Tomorrow for the True Crime Wednesday feature, I am recapping and breaking down the first episode of the Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez docuseries on Netflix. Next week for the TV Tuesday feature, I am reviewing the historical drama, The Borgias. Until then keep bingeing the episodes; Nerd out!
